Masc
My series Masc interrogates ideas of contemporary queer masculinity, outside of the heteronormative and hegemonic ideal. Masc as a whole was borne out of my personal experience reconciling my non normative identity - so much of my personal discovery was fuelled by my interactions with my contemporaries, so I sought to explore and record that. The end result is inexplicably bound to the process of medium format analogue photography, that carried the drama, depth and subtlety I felt the subject mattered deserved and needed. The series spans the past 5 years, and forms part of a wider collection of portraits produced over that period.
